Overview of the 2026 Global Collaborative R&D Program
The Korean Ministry of SMEs and Startups has announced the 2026 Global Collaborative R&D Support Program, a new initiative designed to help domestic SMEs and mid-sized enterprises strengthen their global market entry capabilities through joint research with overseas institutions and companies.
The most significant change is the complete elimination of the previous 124-item product restriction. Companies can now freely propose their own research topics, dramatically expanding participation opportunities across diverse technology sectors.
Key Dates
Detailed Comparison of Two Tracks
Preliminary Research Track
The Preliminary Research Track is ideal for companies that have not yet secured overseas collaboration partners or wish to validate the feasibility of joint research before committing to a full-scale project.
Open-Call Track
The Open-Call Track is for companies that have already established concrete joint research plans with overseas partner institutions.
What the Elimination of Product Restrictions Means
Previously, the Global Collaborative R&D program only accepted applications in 124 government-designated product categories. With the complete removal starting in 2026, AI, bio-healthcare, ESG, and other emerging technology companies can now participate freely.
