What is Main-Biz?
Main-Biz refers to "Management Innovation SME," a certification program operated by Korea's Ministry of SMEs and Startups. It pairs with the Inno-Biz (technology innovation SME) certification, recognizing non-technical management innovation capabilities in marketing, organization, and process.
2026 Program Changes
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups has issued an administrative notice revising the "Main-Biz Operating Regulations," with system implementation of the revised evaluation criteria taking effect from June 2026. Existing certified companies will need to prepare for the new criteria at their next renewal evaluation.
Certification Process
Step 1: Self-Assessment (Online)
Companies self-assess their management innovation capabilities; scoring 600 points or above qualifies for on-site evaluation application.
Step 2: Select Evaluation Body and On-Site Review
Applicants choose their own evaluation body and undergo an on-site assessment.
Step 3: Certification
A score of 700 points or above on the management innovation evaluation criteria results in Main-Biz certification.
Renewal
Certification is valid for 3 years; companies must undergo renewal evaluation before expiration to maintain certification.
Benefits of Main-Biz Certification
Certification Strategy
1. Organize Management Innovation Activities Before Self-Assessment
Document the past 3 years of management innovation activities — new product/service development, marketing innovation, organizational culture improvement — along with concrete results (revenue growth, cost savings).
2. Review the Revised Evaluation Criteria in Advance
Identify and address weak areas based on the 2026 revised evaluation criteria.
3. Consider Pursuing Inno-Biz Simultaneously
Companies with technology innovation capabilities can maximize government support program bonus points by pursuing Inno-Biz and Main-Biz together.
