The 2026 Manufacturing DX Mentor Corps Support Program, run by Korea's Ministry of SMEs and Startups, exists to close that gap. With a total budget of KRW 8.62 billion supporting roughly 1,310 companies, it gives firms free access to a pool of manufacturing innovation experts drawn from large corporations and research institutes. Rather than the company paying consulting fees, the government covers the mentors' activity costs — which keeps the barrier to entry low.
Breaking Down the Four Tracks — Which One Fits Your Company?
Support duration and mentor days differ by track. Pre-Planning and AX Planning are typically short and intensive (days to weeks), while Build Guidance and Post-Management are distributed across the project timeline. Company cost-sharing is generally not required, but always confirm the operating guidelines of your assigned agency.
Eligibility and Application Process
Eligible applicants are SMEs under the Framework Act on SMEs and mid-sized enterprises under the Special Act on Mid-Sized Enterprise Growth. Applications go through the smart factory management system (smart-factory.kr), with a business registration certificate, SME confirmation certificate, and company status materials as standard submissions. After submission, a regional implementing agency (Technopark or equivalent) is assigned and matches a mentor.
Budgets close early once exhausted, so applying soon after the annual announcement is advantageous.
