Finalized ESG Disclosure Roadmap
Korea's Financial Services Commission (FSC) unveiled its draft ESG disclosure roadmap in February 2026 at the "4th Productive Finance Transformation Meeting." Under the roadmap, KOSPI-listed companies with consolidated assets of KRW 30 trillion or more will become the first group subject to mandatory disclosure starting the 2028 fiscal year, expanding to companies with KRW 10 trillion or more in 2029, and to all KOSPI-listed companies by 2033.
Scope 3 (Supply Chain) Disclosure Gets a 3-Year Grace Period
Reflecting concerns about the burden of reporting greenhouse gas emissions across the entire value chain, Scope 3 disclosure will be exempted for 3 years and take effect starting in 2031.
Why SMEs Should Pay Attention Now
While large listed companies are directly subject to disclosure requirements, their SME suppliers will be the first to receive requests for Scope 3 data. Even ahead of the 2028 mandate, large client companies are already increasingly requesting supply chain data proactively.
